What is Account Takeover?

Account takeover is when an attacker gains control of a legitimate user account, usually through credential stuffing or phishing, and uses it as their own.

How it works

Once inside, attackers drain balances, change contact details to lock the real user out, and use the account's history and trust to defraud others.

Why it matters for online assessment

Every takeover is a support incident, a potential chargeback, and a user who may never come back. For your assessments, that means the value of your scores stay protected and candidates get a fair experience.

How ExamFence detects it

ExamFence scores every request against behavioral, network, and device signals, so automated patterns surface even when they imitate real candidates. Suspicious sessions get challenged or blocked before they reach your assessments.
